When it comes to choosing the right pressure washer we have to consider what the best brands are first. If we can determine the best brands we can greatly narrow down our search to finding the best pressure washer. Why does a brand matter? When it comes down to buying any product quality, price, and customer service are the top 3 items on my list to consider.

When you have a quality brand you will most likely get a quality product. I am sure you would rather purchase and drive a car from “Honda” versus a company you never heard of like “50-50 Chance of Dying Motors.” Could you really trust this company to get you safely from point A to B? Knowing a reputable brand will usually lead you to reputable and great quality products. However, this is why we have reviews. Not every single Honda is going to be a perfect product. They may have a bad on here and there. On the other hand not every no name product is going to be a crappy product either. Companies have to start somewhere and build a well know brand name.

Deciding on the perfect pressure washer can be a difficult task to undertake. There are so many different brands in the market and all have different specifications. There is a wide range in prices and you have to decided if you want the convenience of a low maintenance electric pressure washer with less power vs a gas pressure washer with lots of power that will require you to maintain the engine.

I have listed 2 of the most important points that you should consider when purchasing a pressure washer.

Value your Needs. 1st things first. Decide on what type of projects you are going to be doing. Small household tasks can be done by a basic electric pressure washer. Simple cleaning around the house does not require a machine with a ton of power and specs. A lower cost electric machine will be able to get those jobs done. However, if you are looking to do jobs faster and clean deep stains you may need more power. Take pressure washing a concrete driveway for example. An electric pressure washer usually does not have enough power to get deep stains out of concrete. You will need something with more PSI, and to get more PSI you need to have a gas engine. 2800+ PSI is recommend to power wash a concrete driveway.
Are you going to be using the pressure washer for you business? You may want to get a commercial grade unit right away. They have higher quality parts and are built to last a lot longer than consumer grade pressure washers.
PSI and other Features. This goes with valuing you needs, but you have to determine what type of job you will be doing and how much PSI you need to complete it. Remember it is important that you choose the best washer you can afford. Again, you may be able to get away with an electric pressure washer to clean you deck and car, but you may need more power to completely strip the old paint from your deck in order to reseal it. You also need to look at the GPM. The higher Gallons Per Minute the machine is rated for the faster you will be able to complete the task. On the other hand the lower the GPM the more water you are saving. Pressure washers are able to produce much higher flows than your standard garden hose all while using less water.
Other features you will want to examine are the quality of the pump, engine, and overall design. You will also want to pay attention to how heavy the machine is and how compact it is for storing.

Review: Powerstroke PS80519 2200 psi Gas Pressure Washer

Powerstroke PS80519 gas pressure washer is available in a handful of different configurations based on the type of engine.

For this review I am going to focus on the cheapest Powerstroke gas model being the PS80519. All of my finding will pretty much be the same for the other models being that the only major difference is the engine. With the larger engine you will get more PSI out of the unit so it will be able to clean things faster and get out tougher stains. Some of the other models also have a built in soap/detergent compartment. This is certainly handy but is not that big of an advantage to me.

It is great for just about any job around the house and doesn’t have so much power that it will destroy things when you are not careful. I would rate this a low to medium duty pressure washer and if you need something more check out something with at least 3000 PSI. If you are someone who is just upgrading from an electric pressure washer, you will love the added power that you get from this product.

Review: PowerStroke Subaru 3100 PSI Electric Start Pressure Washer w/ Battery

I just picked this pressure washer up from Costco and wanted to share my thoughts on it as well as list information about it as Costco usually takes this information down once they have sold out of this model.

After some research on this model I decided I wanted to try it out. My local Costco stores had all sold out of this pressure washer so I had to drive an hour away to Rochester MN to pick it up.

The PowerStroke Subaru 3100 PSI Electric Start Pressure Washer w/ Battery features 3100 PSI and outputs 2.4 GPM. This model includes 4 different nozzles so that you can tackle almost any project. The blue is used for soap and gentle rise. It has an onboard soap tank that will auto dillute the mixture as well. I just bought a jug of Zep cleaning soap and dumped it in. The White nozzle provides a 40 degree angle. The Green provides a 25 degree angle and lastly the Red nozzle provides a zero degree angle that can do a lot of damage if you are not careful.

Coolest Feature – Electric Start

You rarely see any pressure washer that have an electric push button start. This is very convenient as pulling the cord can be troublesome for certain people, especially my wife. She loves that she can just turn it on with a push of a button. There is still the original pull cord in case the battery is dead and the electric start does not work. Having the push button electric start is like having the convenience of an electric pressure washer with the power of a gas pressure washer.

This pressure washer comes with a built in battery for the electric start. All you have to do is plug it in when you are not using it and it will trickle charge so that it is ready with one push of a button to start when you need it to.

Included Accessories

This PowerStroke pressure washer comes with convenient on-board storage for the 25’ high pressure hose and all 4 of the professional-style nozzles; allowing users to easily switch between nozzles and complete their project quickly. It also includes a bottle of oil that you need to dump in at the beginning. The lance is great but I would recommend getting a longer lance like a 28″ lance. It makes your life so much easier.

My Overall Review:

I would have to say that for the price I paid and Costco’s lifetime warranty this was a great buy. Most pressure washers only have a 1-2 year warranty, but since Costco has a no questions asked satisfaction guarantee warranty, you basically have a lifetime warranty. I paid $300 for this unit and missed the sale that they had a week before. In the Costco coupon book there was a $30 off coupon for this pressure washer. I figured it was still a great deal all because of the excellent warranty.

Starting the PowerStroke Subaru engine is a breeze with the electric start. I really enjoy it even though you have to play with the choke every now and then, but I guess that is expected. Assemble was very easy. All I had to do was attach the arm to the frame, plug in the hoses, add the included bottle of oil and lastly add the gas.

The first use with this power washer was to pressure wash my concrete driveway. I needed to clean it so that I could seal it. With 3100 PSI it did an amazing job at cleaning it. I also used a surface cleaner to finish it 10x faster.

The only thing that I do not like is the included hose it tangled really easily and liked to coil up. I am guessing it will uncoil more over time so its not that big of a deal. I could also just buy a better one, but I will wait until this one fails. Overall I would give this pressure washer a 5 out of 5 stars mainly because it features 3100 PSI at $300 with Costco’s lifetime warranty. You really can’t beat that.
