Review: Generac 6597 2,800 PSI 2.5 GPM 196cc OHV Gas Powered Residential Pressure Washer

The Generac 6597 gas powered pressure washer is the 2nd best-selling gas pressure washer and there are 2 versions available for the same price. They have a CARB complaint version and a non CARB compliant version. People who need a CARB compliment version are usually California residents as they have strict laws the regarding engine pollution.

Let me start off by saying that Gererac is an excellent company and this is one of the highest rated machines that has 2800 PSI with 2.5 GPM for under $300.

The Generac 6597 is powered by a 196cc OHV engine and Axial cam pump. Now what makes Gererac great on their pressure washers is the pump themselves. It is mounted out the back and not down towards the bottom. it is mounted on the horizontal plane and not on the vertical which makes this a superior design not only for accessibility but for long term longevity of the pump. It also lets you connect hoses easier without having to kneel on the ground.

This unit also has a built in soap and chemical dispenser and has a tube that connects directly to the pump. When you put on the soap nozzle it will spray out soap or your choice of chemicals. This is very convenient for storing your cleaning detergents.

The wheels are plastic and not rubber. I would prefer to have rubber but I am not going to complain as these are still very sturdy and can easily move this pressure washer around which weights about 70 pounds. The overall unit is not big so you can easily store it away in a small place

The spray gun feels very sturdy and comfortable in your hand. On this particular unit you receive 4 different quick connect nozzle tips.

Conclusion:

Overall I give this pressure washer a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  It looks great, feels very sturdy and overall is very well built.

The only things that bothers is the included 25 foot hose. It is very cheap quality. Luckily hoses can be replaced very easily and if you are looking to do certain jobs, you may want to get a longer 50 foot hose like the Apache 10085591 Thermoplastic Rubber Black Pressure Washer Hose. Cheap quality hoses seem to be a very common complaint with all Gererac pressure washers and model 6597 unfortunately suffers as well.

This is a great pressure washer for the price and will easily get your job done!
