Not many things are more fun more than blasting debris and dirt off something with a power pressure washer. Basic washers come with a high pressure pump and reservoir, a spray hose and nozzle, and of course an electrical cord. You just fill the reservoir or use a water hose to connect it to the water supply. Just plug it in and you are ready to go. The smaller electric washers can spray water out of the nozzle at pressures of over 1400 PSI. That is an astonishing amount of pressure. You must be careful as that much pressure can really hurt you or people around you so keep your spraying confined to inanimate surfaces only. Speaking of pressure, make sure you get the right unit for the job. If you use too much pressure, you can rip the paint off almost any surface with the right washer. I heard a story of someone that was trying to do a favor for his in-laws by cleaning their cars but unfortunately managed to strip the paint off one of their older cars with his power pressure washer! So, don’t say I didn’t warn you! Wood surfaces are especially vulnerable. It is a lot easier than you might think to damage the wood on your deck with a power washer. Just to be sure try testing a small inconspicuous spot before going all out on the deck.
Anyway, now that we’ve gotten the precautionary messages over with, what else can we clean with a power washer? Well, how about cleaning the siding on your house? If you haven’t done maintenance to the exterior of your house since the Ford Pinto was on the road then I’ve got a job for you! Power washing your house should of course be done very carefully. Be sure that all windows and doors nears the areas you’ll be cleaning are closed and do not pressure wash screens. They can damage really easily.
If you get excited when you see dirt and rocks flying all over the place then pressure washing your driveway is just the ticket. Fire that power pressure washer up and proceed to blast away that dirt, rock, and anything else standing in the way of a clean driveway! These power washers can send rocks flying so make sure that your car, people and pets are not anywhere near you when you do this. There are a lot of things that can be cleaned and the cleaning can be so much more fun with a power washer. So, just let your imagination run free. Just remember to test it out on a small area first and always use it safely. Wearing glasses is a must!
