Review: Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer Pump Saver

When it comes to pressure washer maintenance there really is not a whole lot to it. Just make sure you are changing the oil, stabilizing the gas with a fuel stabilizer like Stabil, and lastly preserving the pump.

I recommend using the Briggs & Stratton Pressure Washer Pump Saver. You do not have to use this every time you are using your pressure washer, but if you are going to be storing it for a long time it is a good idea to help protect your pressure washer pump.

Some pressure washer manuals tell you to apply this every time you are finished power washing. I find that to be overkill even though it is a very cheap product. The only time I apply the pump saver is when I am winterizing the pressure washer or not going to be using it for more than a few weeks.

The pump saver protects your engine’s pistons and seals them from damage. It uses a special anti-freeze and lubrication formula that blocks out moisture and prevents cracking.

It also is going to lubricate your o rings and seals so they do not dry rot, freeze, crack, and burst.

I am sure you know what happens to water in the winter. It turns to ice and expands. The pump will not expand if it has ice inside and will freeze and crack. Then you need to replace the pressure washer pump and that can get expensive and difficult to do.

So if you are going to be storing your power washer for an extended amount of time you will want to use the Briggs and Stratton pump saver.

It is also beneficial to reapply it during the startup of the new season to help your pump run in tip top shape.

Now you may be thinking do I have to use a specific brand of pump saver? The answer is no. My main pressure washer is not a Briggs & Stratton, but I prefer their pump saver over my washer’s specific brand based on the fact that I can get it from Amazon for cheap and within a few days.

Apache 10085591: A Great Choice for a Replacement Pressure Washer Hose

If you are looking for a replacement hose for an existing pressure washer you already have, search no further as the Apache 10085591 5/16″ x 50′ 3700 PSI Pressure Washer Hose with Female Metric Ends is actually a very good choice. It is probably the most affordable hose of its kind that can be found online and you can expect years of great service from it. With proper care and storage, you will appreciate how the Apache 10085591 is durable enough for regular use for quite a long period of time.

The Apache 10085591 Pressure Washer Hose keeps it simple with its plain black color. Its female metric ends make it a perfect fit to most pressure washers, so connectors aren’t really necessary. If you intend to use it for an existing pressure washer that you have, it would be perfect—just make sure that yours uses the standard pressure washer fittings, which is 5/16″ to ensure that you don’t need extra connectors. The Apache 10085591 hose is made with durable TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) and TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) material and weighs only 5.05 pounds. Looking for a replacement pressure washer gun? The Apache 99023802 may be your solution. This universal pressure washer gun offers an effective option for one who is interested in a do it yourself approach to cleaning. This Replaceable power washer has the ability to fit in different nozzles, wands and additions make it easy to use your pressure washer for different needs. I purchased this from Amazon and it was originally intended for a small job but is now applied to larger jobs and maintenance that allow me to keep the home exterior clean and well maintained. This is an easy solution to reach the hard to get places while clearing out additional dirt and debris from any area of the home.

The Apache 99028302 comes with an extra nozzle kit and wand, but I would recommend you purchase a longer wand if you can spare the extra cash. (Check out the list of the best pressure washer wands). This gun kit works with both gas and electric pressure washers so long as you have the standard 5/16″ hose.

It is easy to disconnect and change different nozzles for specific types of pressure washing. Combining this with various spray patterns as well as five settings offers flexibility with the pressure washer while offering ease of use for anyone who wants to use the gun. The gun kit also offers two hose adapters as well as a nozzle kit, which makes it a universal design.

Overall I would say this is an excellent pressure washer gun kit. The Apache 99028302 is an excellent value for your money and it would be hard to get OEM replacement parts from the manufacture for less than you would get here. I rate this product 5 out of 5 stars and you can see on Amazon that others have similar ratings. There really is nothing that needs to be changed other than maybe you could have a cheaper kit without the wand. I much prefer my upgraded pressure washer wand over the included one but this one does the job too. You can’t go wrong with this kit if you are in the market for a new or replacement pressure washer gun.

Best Pressure Washer Soap

When using soap or other detergent in your pressure washer it can be troublesome to determine what the best soap is to use with your pressure washer. I will try my best to tell you guys what products work best in certain situations. Using the information below you can see what works best based on my recommendation.

What is the best general purpose pressure washer soap? – My go to soap for my pressure washer is a jug of ZEP. It is fairly low cost and they make task specific cleaning solutions. When it comes to cleaning my concrete driveway I use the ZEP 128oz Driveway and Concrete Pressure Wash Concentrate.

What chemicals are safe to use on a concrete driveway when power washing? – Like I said before I like to use the ZEP Driveway and Concrete bottle. I have also used Simple Green but I think that ZEP does a better job. To apply it you just spray it onto your driveway and wait 20 minutes. Make sure that it does not dry out so you may need to re-wet your driveway if it is really hot outside. After 20 minutes wash it off and your driveway will be a lot cleaner than it was before.

Please note that you should take precautions with your grass. Make sure to wet your glass before hand and after you are done so that the soap does not kill the grass.

Can I use soap or chemicals to clean the outside of my house?

What detergent should I use to clean mildew? – Borax Soap works well on mildew and is a great solution for cleaning brick. I find that I have a lot of buildup of mildew on the side of my house and using just a pressure washer and water does not clean it very well. You have to be careful with what solutions you choose as you want to be careful not to stain or change the color of the bricks. You are also going to see mildew on wood. When using a pressure washer to clean wood be very careful with the nozzle you choose. Also be sure you are not really close to the wood. We do not want to damage it and too much pressure against wood can leave a bad situation.

What is the best Deck and fence cleaner? – When pressure washing a deck, fence, or other wooden objects, your best detergent to use would have to be Simple Green 11001 Clean Building All-Purpose Concentrate Cleaner. I find that this product works about the same as Krud Kutter DF01 Blue Pressure Washer Concentrate Deck and Fence Cleaner with Sweet Odor, but has a more pleasant smell.

Overall there really is no best pressure washer soap. Sometimes you may need a degreaser, other times you may find that you just need some dish-washing soap. You really have to be more specific with what type of detergent you need to handle the job. Some of the all-purpose cleaners may work for you but it is always best to use an application specific cleaner.

Best Surface Cleaner for Pressure Washers

Cleaning with a pressure washer can be tough work and time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be if you have the right tools. A surface cleaner is an excellent time saver, and if you anything like me you will understand the words “Time is Money.” I need a surface cleaner for my large concrete driveway and through my research I put together a list of the best surface cleaners for pressure washers. Below you will find a comparison table of the top surface cleaners I have seen.

So what is a surface cleaner?

Fist off let me tell you that the surface cleaner is on the top of my list of best pressure washer accessories. This pressure washer attachment that allows you to clean up to 4 times faster than using a standard spray and nozzle. The circular accessory ranges in size, but the most popular models are around 15″.

So how does it work?

You simply attach your pressure washer wand to the unit via the quick connect coupler system. When you press the trigger water is pushed out in a spinning motion aimed down at the floor and in contained inside the unit. Trapping the water in small tight space and moving it around quickly leaves a streak-free surface. Now just use the cleaner in a vacuuming or sweeping type motion and you will be done cleaning in no time.

Types of surface cleaners

This comparison and review is for home use surface cleaners. There are many different commercial grade units out there that are a lot more efficient, a lot larger, and cost a lot more money. If you are starting a business and need a commercial grade unit, I would give one of these a try first to see how they hold up and if they meet your expectations. You may be surprised!

Pros:

Extremely efficient. Will get you cleaning job does about 4x faster.
has quick connect couplers to fit almost any pressure washer lance.
They are not that expensive. Well worth the money!
Works on concrete, pavers, patios, decks, sidewalks, and more.

Cons:

Will leave marks in the concrete or wood if you leave it in 1 spot for too long. I was cleaning my driveway and noticed a few circles the next day. Luckily you can easily buff those out usually by just going over that spot again.
You will most likely need to invest in a longer wand to save your back. Most pressure washers have a small lance.

Surface Cleaner Reviews (2015)

Review of PowerFit PF31023 – This would have to be my number 1 choice and my go to surface cleaner. It works wonderfully and is very similar to the Yamaha which I will review next. Cleaning my concrete driveway with just a standard nozzle took me hours to do and was very tedious. Once I snapped on this cleaner I was instantly amazed. There is so much torque you feel like you could get blown away. It makes cleaning fun and very easy as long as you have a wand that fits your height. You do not want to be bending over using this. Your back will be extremely sore the next morning. I made that mistake the first time. After I got a lance extension I was completely satisfied.

I would give the PowerFit surface cleaner 5 stars if it was a bit cheaper. I know its not that expensive when you think about how much time you save but I really think this device should sell for around $49.95.

Review of Yamaha ACC-31056-00-13 – Basically this is the exact same model as the PowerFit PF31023. Yamaha came out with the model first and private labeled it for other companies. I know Home Depot has the same model in Red called the EZ Clean.

The Reason that I rank the Yamaha under the Powerfit is due to price. You can get the exact same model for cheaper. However since this is a more well know brand and is considered the original you may want to pay the difference in price. For me is was better to save the money and get 2 day free shipping with Amazon Prime. Depending on the price of the 2 just get the one that is cheaper. You will not be disappointed at these are the best pressure washer surface cleaners out right now.

Review of Briggs & Stratton 6328 – When I fist heard of and saw a surface cleaner this was the model. I think of it as the original surface cleaner even though there has been models out before it. The Briggs and Stratton 6328 is a very high quality unit that offers a superior way to clean all the surfaces around your home with out getting overspray all over. However, this model is just 14″ and the newer models above will cover more ground faster as they are 15 inches in size. Briggs and Stratton is an excellent company with excellent customer service. if you are interested in trying this model out, go for it! They will take care of you if anything goes wrong.

Review of Karcher T350 and Karcher T250 – I am going to go ahead and combine my review of the Karker T350 and T250. These are so similar that I can go over the differences for you here. The T250 is a lower end unit that is about half the cost of the T350 due to its 11″ size vs 12″ Karcher has made the T250 compatible with all Karcher consumer electric pressure washers and will not work with other brands unless modified. The T350 on the other hand is compatible with all Karcher Gasoline pressure washers rated at 2400-2650 PSI. Unless you have a Karcher pressure washer I would just skip over these models.

Review of AR Blue Clean Deck, Patio & Flat Surface Cleaner – Again this is another brand specific pressure washer and not a universal model. If you have an electric AR Blue Clean Pressure washer like the best selling AR383, than this is the surface cleaner you need. Granted it is only 10″, it is still a major time saver. It is perfect for cleaning patios, decks, and driveways, but most of those jobs usually require a more powerful gas unit to get them super clean. If you are currently using an electric pressure washer to clean your deck, than this attachment is just for you. It cleans very nicely and is well worth the money. Remmeber that this unit will only work with specific AR units out of the box so be careful. You may need to purchase an adapter to get it to work with other models. Just attach it and use it like a vacuum and you will notice results in no time. It is inexpensive and is about 3 to 4 times faster than just using the spray wand.

Conclusion:

If you are thinking of purchasing a surface cleaner my only advice to you would be do it right away. Once you try it you will be so pleased with the time you save and how much cleaner your area will be. Everyone that I have talked with said that they wish they would of got one sooner.
